Inflatable Packaging for Nyco

THE CHALLENGE

Aerocell® was approached by Nyco Products Company, a specialty manufacturer of high-performance national cleaning brands and private branded chemicals, to assist with creating a packaging solution for their OM1 Series Cleaners.

The OM1 Series features a trio of 32 oz. spray bottles whose primary means of distribution was via UPS to fulfill sample requests generated from social media and trade industry advertising. Nyco’s past history of shipping single and multipacks of 32 oz. pistol-grip bottles with trigger sprayers resulted in significant damage and packaging failure.

THE SOLUTION

The Aerocell® Team developed a custom-sized inflatable package that provides a secure fit for Nyco’s product samples. Aerocell®’s multi-air column design creates a form fitting air cushion around the product, protecting it from the rigors of shipping. Each package contains many segmented air columns that inflate from a single valve using regular compressed air, making the packaging process quick and easy. Inflatable packaging provides a reliable solution to prevent damage but also creates a unique sample product presentation for Nyco’s OM1 Series Cleaners. This also results in an overall lighter package, which means more savings on shipping costs.

Having shipped over 10,000 sample packs,
Nyco has experienced no product returns
due to parcel shipment damage or packaging failure.

THE RESULTS

Confidence in packaging has been a key metric allowing Nyco to build market penetration in Food Service, Maintenance and Repair Operations (MRO), Building Facility Maintenance, and Retail Hardware Markets.

Nyco has been able to eliminate the need for packaging peanuts and neck-taping sprayers for sample bottle shipments, resulting in reduced labor and total packaging costs.
